Bank of America Has Stolen Our Money!




(should be: Bank of Thieves)


I am LIVID right now!  We have several accounts with this bank including our business account.  Today, I made several direct deposits to be transferred into other individuals accounts (which BofA sits on for 3 business days between taking it out of our account IMMEDIATELY and going into their account).  Well, today when I tried to process the transactions I got a white page, and the arrow was going round and round for about 4 minutes.  Obviously, something went wrong, because I would normally get a confirmation page with confirmation numbers for each transaction.  So, I clicked back to the previous page.  All my data was still entered so I re-submitted the transactions.  This time the transactions went through immediately, and I received the confirmation numbers.  I decided to go check another page, just in case something behind the scenes may have happened without me being aware of it.  Luckily I did, because each transaction had been duplicated!  What was a few thousand dollars was now doubled!!  I quickly tried to find a way to cancel the double transactions, but could not find any option to do so.  I got on the phone and waited about 20 minutes before getting a rep.  I gave her the info. and she located the transactions.  She then told me that she needed to contact another department to void the duplicate transactions.  After being on hold for a couple of minutes another person got on the line and this is when all hell broke loose.  He informed me that the money had already been taken out of our account and that it could be 3 days until we would get the money returned!  I asked to speak to a manager and he told me there was no one else to speak with.  Well, that didn't go over well with me.  HOW DARE THEY TAKE OUR MONEY AND SIT ON IT FOR 3 DAYS!!  And HE HAD THE GALL TO SAY IT WASN'T THEIR FAULT!!  WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT!!  There is nothing else we can do until tomorrow, when we will definitely be going into a branch to raise hell.

It is total bullshit! I really hope this gets passed around to as many people as possible. The blogosphere can be a great tool for us little people!

I know I'm not exactly a 6 footer, but I get enough shit from Julie and Duncan without you starting.

Banks and bankers have always been the lowest of the low in my opinion. They are like airlines - they have your money well in advance of offering you anything by way of a service, and then brazenly brass-neck it out when they're in the wrong.

I always remember when the time came to leave school. It was the ones with no qualifications who had to turn to getting a job in the bank as a last resort. Enough said!

That's what banks are for - taking a bunch of your money for providing no service whatsoever. And some people have to nerve say our American capitalist system isn't perfect. Good luck giving them hell.

When they go wrong, why not just accept they goofed? Bollocks alienates customers and with the power of blogging, gives a bad advert for the company. Hit em hard lass!

thanks for the warning. I do try to be extra careful with my online banking (different bank). Recently, I went to transfer some money between different accounts at the same bank. It would not work. After I called, I found out the one account was inactive for too long. It still collected interest every month (tiny amount these days) but it was inactive. I had to withdraw some money to get it active again. How stupid.

I hope you get it all straighten out but watch out for some stupid fee for something or other. Damn bankers just love fees.

UPDATE: We went into the bank today, but they stood firm there was nothing they could do to get the money back in our account before at least tomorrow. We are looking around at other banks, but are afraid that the others are just the same. Anyone have any suggestions?

i didn't realize there were posts over here lately, so i didn't see this until now. go to www.moveyourmoney.info

put in your zip code, and it will tell you the smaller banks in your area that have been rated as B or higher. i hate the big banks. when you go to a smaller bank, the people know you, and things like this don't happen. even if they do, they'll fix it without having to go to 10 different managers. if all the accounts you moved money to were b of a accounts, then they are totally full of shit. they can move the money back and forth in a day.

Nons....we FINALLY got the money back in our account TODAY (6 days they had it, those b*stards). Not one of the banks listed from that website is located near us. The big banks have a monopoly in our area.

After using Bank of America for over a decade, I switched to Citibank and have been very satisfied for years. It was a pain, but I'm glad I went to all the trouble. I would strongly advise getting a personal banker at your local branch and getting their direct line number. Believe me, at some point you will use it. We all feel your pain.
