TUESDAY TEASER (on a Wednesday this week)

Two nuns in a bathtub....

One says to the other

"Where's the soap"

The other replies

"Yes it does, doesn't it"

This is my hubby's all time favorite joke. He has told it for years. The funniest part of him telling the joke is the responses and looks he receives because NO ONE ever gets it.

But now the joke has gotten even funnier. Since years have passed when our first friends were told the joke, now when he tells it to some new unsuspecting soul(s) and the older friends are there, everyone starts laughing hysterically leaving the poor soul(s) the only one(s) in the room not laughing. (We're so cruel!)

Since my hubby is not the greatest of joke tellers, I always wondered if somehow he got the joke screwed up and was telling it wrong throughout the years. I know English humor can be quite different than American humor, but this one seemed to be off the charts. Well, as it turned out, one Saturday evening a couple of years ago, when watching the British comedy shows on PBS, the "Vicar of Dibley" (our personal favorite) was on. If any of you have ever watched this hilarious show, at the end of each episode, the Vicar tells a joke to her Looney Tune assistant, Alice, who never understands any of her jokes, so the Vicar ends up having to explain them to her. Well, wouldn't you know it, she told my hubby's joke word for word! We were laughing so hard we never heard the Vicar explaining it to Alice.

OK...let me see if I get it. Where's should be Wears as in Wears down...as in wears down from putting in her cooch.

But asking Wears the Soap? doesn't make the answer any more clear?

Wears the Soap? Down? would be better.

Unless I totally don't get it.

NS...I had a feeling you would understand it!! ;-)

Bear...I think you pretty much got it!! Don't ponder too much over it. I still don't think it's very funny even after all these years! :-)

To be honest,YnB; it was one of the more risque ones that got told when we were at primary school (about age 7).

It was funny back then.

honestly....it was.

I feel like a kid still, most of the time. sigh....

*** I know I love Hyacinth!!!!!!
I also watch Last of the Summer Wine, but hubby kind of hates that. And I watch the one with Judy Dench, As Time Goes By... I have Absolutely Fabulous on DVD, I watched the original Office with Ricky Gervais back in 2002, and Coupling was also my favorite- also have that on dvd.

Last of the Summer Wine is filmed up in Yorkshire where my hubby is from! The people in that show are so ugly, aren't they!! :-) I'm not a lover of it either, but I do watch it. I've really gotten into the Judy Dench show, too. At first I didn't care for it, but now I really enjoy it. Have you seen the show she's in when she's younger? I don't know the name of it, but it just recently started being televised here.
