Are You A Massage Person?

Some people love them, some hate them. Some people love to give them while others only enjoy receiving them. I am a taker on this one. I love receiving them. Giving them.....eh. My favorite.....the feet. Nothing beats a foot massage IMO! I won't complain about a back or neck massage, but if I had to choose, my feet would win hands down.

Do you consider a massage a sensual treat or would you rather no one touched you? Or are you someone who enjoys giving them instead?

Hi yorksnbeans (sorry about the misspelling on my last comment... I didn't notice that until much later)

I had a massage while I was in Malaysia that I HATED. It hurt, a lot. No fun.

Then I've had massages here in the US that I really liked.

So I guess my answer is, it depends on the style.

I don't mind giving massages either...

Once I had a a sea-salt massage that didn't feel very good either, but man, did my skin look great afterwards! I know some masseuses are really aggressive. I believe it's the swedish massage that is most relaxing. Did you live in Malaysia for awhile or were you just visiting?

Just visiting... I was there on business and the hotel I was staying in had a complimentary massage. Cool eh? I felt like royalty the hotel was so opulent.

Great perk for having to travel for work!

Helloooo... I really like getting massages! Especially when I was pregnant. And feet? oh Lawrd! Have you seen that Chinese chart that correlates your feet with parts of your body? I totally believe it. My husband does the best massages, but I have had one at a Spa, and that was good too. I don't like the "kneed your organs" type of pressure, but if you tell them how, they do it right.

That one time at the spa, the woman took her fingers and pressed areas around my neck down my shoulders off to the side of my arms, and it was amazing. And I think I know why- it's like, lymphatic drainage. It clears away the toxins that build up in your lymph nodes. That's why I think they say "touch" is healing or helps ppl live longer in new medical studies.

BTW yorks... Your profile icon is so great. Did you paint/create it yourself?

Hey m2! No I haven't seen the chinese chart, I'll have to google it to see what it says. And, yes I know about clearing the toxins after having a vigorous massage. It's like a high colonic (not that I've ever had one), but a good massage will clean you out the next day!

My avatar is a product of combining internet art with an artsy font via picasa. Thanks for the compliment! Several people told me the same thing when I started using it on iReports.

Mrs. Indy keeps saying I should get one. I always refuse and this is why: either A) I'd get male masseur or an unattractive female masseusse, in which case, I really wouldn't enjoy them touching me, or b) I'd get an attractive female, in which case I'd feel like I was doing something wrong.

I have a TENS massager that I once got as a gift for Mrs. Indy in Las Vegas, but she didn't like it. You put two sticky pads on your shoulders (or back, or thighs, wherever) and the thing will just pound your muscles as hard as you want for 20 straight minutes while you sit and blog or watch TV... it just looks creepy because your muscles just move on their own. Takes a moment to get used to - it's a weird sensation at first.

Here's an example of one: http://www.allmedtech.com/tebdiun.html

Hey, Indy! Thanks for stopping by! Your first paragraph immediately made me think of the Seinfeld episode when George went to the masseuse/massager. Did you see that one? "It moved!". LOL!

And of course Mrs. Indy didn't enjoy it...she wants to receive them from you!! :)

Oh no, she enjoyed it - one of her Christmas presents was a 3-month membership to "Massage Envy" :-> Any mom of an infant needs that.

What a thoughtful gift, indy. My comment was in response to your comment about her not liking that gadget you bought her. (Oooh, that doesn't sound good, but you know what I'm referring to.)
