WEDNESDAY "WHAT IF?"

WHAT IF......you were alone on a hiking trail and heard someone screaming for help. You could tell the person was getting attacked, but you couldn't see by whom or what. You had no cell phone and you were deep in the woods. What would you do?

Wow, you ask some tough questions! Truth be told, I don't know what I would do. If it's a serial killer he's not going to be scared away by little old me. If it's a mountain lion, same deal. Bear too. I don't carry any weapons, so I don't have much defense. I don't carry a cell-phone so I would't be much use that way either.

But I would certainly try to do Something. Maybe I would sneak up to see what was going on, and if I thought I could help I would. If not I would run for help.

I'm sure that sounds cowardly.

I waited to see what someone else would say because I feel the same way as you. :-) I don't consider myself a daredevil so I don't think I'd try to take on a wild animal or a raving attacker. I'd be scared sh*tless!!

Depends on the situation. If it is a human and I can sneak up behind them I could probably land a blow to the back of the neck or something. Otherwise getting myself killed isn't going to help either of us.

I agree with all of you... self-preservation is ingrained, indeed!

I just voted, 'funny' on my personality. That's a fun poll.

I would approach the sounds very cautiously from the down wind side and try to evaluate the situation. Help if I thought I could, If I could not help I would leave the immediate area cautiously, and then get help asap.

I'd try to get to them but stay hidden until I see what's going on and if there's anything I can do.

If I can't help, make a mental note of where it is and try to get to a place I can call for help ASAP!
